Not all all-inclusive car hire quotes are truly inclusive, as with many companies there is an insurance excess of several hundred pounds payable if your hire car is stolen or damaged.
If you hire a car at least a couple of times a year it may be cheaper to purchase an annual excess refund policy which costs around £50 a year for European cover. With this policy any excess which you have to pay will be refunded by the insurance company.
Don't just book your hire car on the site of a low cost
airline, as it's highly unlikely that you'll get a good deal. When
I did a bit of research the car hire price quoted for an off peak
week in Majorica was double the price on the Easyjet
site compared to the price with Economy
Car Hire.
Choosing the
best car hire deal for your trip does generally take a bit of
effort. The two companies I've used are Economy
Car Hire and Auto
Europe. It's always a good idea to get at least a couple
of quotes to compare, but do remember to look at all features, such as charges for additional drivers,
during your comparison.
