I stayed at the four star Hotel Ciutat de Tarragona in Spain for three nights in May 2013. My accommodation was arranged by TBMCatSur. The hotel’s in a really handy position behind the bus station; there’s a direct express bus to Tarragona from Barcelona Airport. The jouney takes around one hour.

My check-in was fast and efficient.

My fifth floor single room was pretty spacious. The bed looked like a four footer (over 1m wide) versus a standard single bed. My room faced the bus station, but it also had a view over a park. The double glazing was very effective as I didn’t hear any external noise. I found my room to be very comfortable.

The wifi was excellent, if only all hotels had such a good signal. I was able to upload videos from my mobile phone to Youtube within seconds.
One of my niggles about the room was the lack of electrical sockets. I could only find one at the desk, so often had to charge my phone or camera using the socket in the bathroom. I also thought that a four star hotel should provide tissues in the room.

The hotel has a pool and terrace on the roof. The pool is on the small side, more of a plunge pool than for swimming.

Breakfast was served from 7.30 to 11am. There were plenty of tables in the restaurant, which were well spaced avoiding the all too common lack of space to get up and down to the buffet. There was a good selection of items on the buffet including fresh pineapple and melon, cold meats and fried eggs.
I asked for a late check out at 1.15pm. The standard check-out time is noon. My request was granted; it made such a difference to be able to have a shower after attending the morning’s activities before I took the 1.25pm bus to Barcelona Airport.
Overall, I was very happy with my stay at the Hotel Ciutat de Tarragona. Unlike many city centre hotels, my room was quiet. It was also refreshing to have such a good wifi signal in my room.
