I dined at the Grand Cafe Lamot in Mechelen, on a complimentary basis, during my Flanders is a Festival blog trip in August 2012. The second floor restaurant is flooded with light, as the glass walls were put in during the conversion from a brewery. There are great views over the canal.

I decided to dispense with a starter, so that I’d have space for a dessert. While I was waiting for my main course, I was brought a Tuna Amuse-bouche.

My Green Salad with Pan Fried Prawns, Snap Peas, Green Asparagus accompanied by Apple and Ginger/Curry dressing was excellent.

I was so glad I’d opted for dessert when my Trio of Fruit Sorbets served with Seasonal Fruit arrived.

I thought that the food at Grand Cafe Lamot was fantastic; light, fresh and full of flavours which complemented each other well. The staff were very pleasant.
