When planning our budget break to Scotland, I spotted a Groupon deal for Afternoon Tea for two for £9 (standard price £11.75 per person) at Hettie’s Tearoom, in either Pitlochry or Perth. The downside was that you had to phone to book a table, rather than turn up when it suited you. As I wasn’t sure of our exact intinerary, I couldn’t book in advance. As we hit Dalwhinnie on our drive back from Inverness, I phoned Hettie’s Tearoom in Pitlochry to book a table for 4pm, but I was told they were too busy and had used up the Groupon allocation for that day. It was quite annoying, but we were able to book a table at Hettie’s Tearoom in Perth the following day. So if you have a Group voucher for any restaurant or hotel deals, book as early as possible to try to secure the day and time of your choice.

Hettie’s Tearoom Perth
As we approached Hettie’s Tearoom Perth the cakes on display in the window looked very yummy.

Afternoon Tea comprises of sandwiches, a scone with cream and jam and a selection of cakes accompanied by a pot of tea. I loved the scones which were very light and fluffy. The lemon cake tasted more like a bought cake than a homemade one. The selection of teas was amazing; I had “Honey Be Beautiful” and it was divine.

Afternoon Tea at Hettie’s Tearoom
For £9 for two people Afternoon Tea was a good deal but I wouldn’t be willing to pay the full price of £23.50. Hettie’s Tearoom in Perth appears to be very popular, we were there on Wednesday in early May and most of the tables were occupied even although the Tearoom isn’t on the main thoroughfare.

Groupon deal offers are always like that. I had a similar experience with a Brazilian restaurant but i ended up not going. But the scones and sandwiches look so good. I am not a big tea lover but the cakes at the display window definitely made me want to check out this Tearoom. If I ever have a chance go up to Scotland I would definitely want to taste them but for now I’ll stick to what we have here in London :D
lolia – I do wonder about the percentage of Groupon vouchers that are never redeemed. We almost didn’t use the Hettie’s Tearoom voucher becuae we’ve have preferred to go for lunch during the time that we were in Perth. Whereas afternnon tea the previous day in Pitlochry would’ve been perfect.
