I have now got Vodafone to refund my money for the Data and texts. It does depend who you speak to and I would suggest that you ask to speak to a manger.

Vodafone customer services is mainly from Egypt and it depends on who you get to deal with your issue. It is often that the person understands less than the customer and they waste time by looking at things that are not relevant.

The manager I spoke to quickly resolved the issue by returning the money paid and said it appeared to be a system problem just before the changeover on July 1.

If Vodafone do not introduce a value for money plan as they had before, they are going to loose customers for certain. The EU pricing policy is a minimum standard and was not intended to increase costs so outrageously.

Who in their right mind is going to pay £3 a day to take their plan over to Europe. For a 10 day trip it would mean £30, almost the same as my £36 plan. For a full 30 day month, it will mean £90. You don't have to be too bright to work out this is not value for money and it would be cheaper to get a pay as you go card.

I wonder what Lord Sugar would have to say to the bright sparks in Vodafone who thought the £3 a day was a good idea.

Vodafone Euro Traveller works out incredibly expensive if you are mainly a data user with varied roamed call use.

Data Traveller cost only 10 pounds a month for 25mb a day. In my case calls varied but in total monthly bill if I was roaming for a month was never as high as what it would cost with Euro Traveller - around 90 pounds!

As Vodafone removed the old services without giving the option to keep them, many customers and I are fighting to be released from our contracts as they are now pretty much useless when abroad and we chose Vodafone due to these services being available. Vodafone, however, are not allowing this and so complaints have been lodged with Ofcom, the Ombudsman and BBC Watchdog. I am also in the process of taking Vodafone to court as they will not budge and now I have no other choice.

You can see the discontent here:
http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Pay-Monthly-Services/Eurotraveller-questions/td-p/1150087/page/16

I urge all of you who are unhappy not to just sit back and take this kind of treatment. The more Vodafone see that people are upset and their reputation go down the drain, the more they are likely to worry and listen!

I had exactyl the same during a recent trip to Geneva. Their call centre in Egypt told me that it was a mistake and the I could not activate data traveller from within the UK. So it shows how much they knew.

They agreed to refund my money after I insisted that I would make a claim in the small claims court if necessary.

Now, I am told that it's great as all I have to do is pay a flat daily rate of £3 to use my data allowance as I do in the uk. So instead of it costing me a maximum of £10 a month, I will now pay up to £90 a month just to use my allowance.

Surely, someone at Vodafone can see that this is indeed wrong and does not in any way benefit the customer. What is the benefit to a pay monthly customer being charged a daily high rate amount for EU wide usage.
