In addition to the Grote Markt, the pedestrian/cycling tunnel under the river is worth checking out as a gateway to an afternoon picnic.

Not the usual run of the mill places to visit in Belgium but some very imaginative places. Mechelen of course was the capital of the Netherlands as the revolution that lead to Belgium breaking away from the Netherlands didn’t take place until 1830.

Another nice thing to do when traveling to Belgium especially to Antwerpen is to visit the train station. The train station is huge and you will see alot of diamond shops inside. Once you exit the train station you will find a zoo and alot of shops to shop at. Also try to go see the diamond museum which is located just one minute’s walking distance from the train station.
