My Favourite Hotels in Europe 2011

Below are five of my favourite hotels in Europe from stays in 2011 (in random order).

Ardanaiseig Hotel , near Oban, Scotland

We stayed for two nights in the Boat Shed at the Ardanaiseig Hotel in September 2011. This is the perfect romantic getaway on the shores of Loch Awe.

Capital Coast Resort Paphos, Cyprus

Our apartment at the Capital Coast Resort in Paphos on the island of Cyprus was excellent value for money costing £70 a night for two guests on half board in March 2011 for a one bedroom, two bathroom, very well equipped apartment with a sea view.

Hotel Missoni Edinburgh, Scotland

You can see the influence of Italian fashion design at the Hotel Missoni Edinburgh. The rooms are fab and if you go for the all inclusive rate you get breakfast, wifi, minibar, movies and two items of laundry at no additional charge.

St Martins Therme & Lodge, Burgenland, Austria

I stayed at the St Martins Therme & Lodge in Burgenland in eastern Austria for two nights in April 2011. I enjoyed swimming in the outdoor pool. The breakfast was fantastic and featured so much local produce (and breakfast was served until 11am everyday).

Lopesan Baobab Resort, Gran Canaria, Spain

I liked the Lopesan Baobab in Maspalomas on the island of Gran Canaria as it revolved around an African theme. We stayed here in February 2011 and enjoyed having breakfast on the sunny terrace, while spotting animals in the bush. There are eight swimming pools in the grounds.
