Alkmaar Cheese Market, The Netherlands

Although Amanda acknowledges that the Cheese Market in Alkmaar, around 20 miles from Amsterdam, is a bit of tourist show, it’s still some colourful, if staged, fun.

Annecy Market, France

Some say that Annecy’s Sunday market is the best market in France. Kimberly wasn’t sure about that claim but was certainly charmed by the setting of the market along the narrow streets and bridges of this medieval town.

Borough Market. London, UK

London’s Borough Market is located close to London Bridge station. The market’s origins can be traced to medieval times but it’s been in this spot since the mid 18th century. Neha points out that is weatherproof under the wrought iron roof.

Portobello Market, London, UK

Neha fell in love with London’s Portobello Market in Notting Hill, due in part to its quirkiness. However she advises caution at the Antiques Market, as she found some items to be a bit over-priced.

Vieste Food Market, Puglia, Italy

Kimberly describes some of the local specialities for sale at the Vieste Market on the Gargano peninsula in southern Italy.  Although the rings pictured below may like doughnuts they are in fact rings of smoked mozzarella made from buffalo milk.
