Yesterday evening we watched the testing of the Royal Border Bridge illuminations in Berwick upon Tweed. A specialist crew of electricians has been in Berwick for the last few weeks working on the installation of LED lighting in the viaduct’s 28 arches. The illuminations celebrate the 150th anniversary of the death of the Royal Border Bridge’s chief engineer Robert Stephenson. The bridge was opened by Queen Victoria in 1850.
The date for the official opening of the Royal Border Bridge illuminations is Saturday 27 November 2010.
