I had dinner in Sails Brasserie at St Aubin’s Harbour on the Channel Island of Jersey in May 2010,  accompanied by Jackie Gully of Jersey.com.  The Brasserie is on the first floor of The Boat House overlooking the harbour.  We selected from the £25 three course set menu (some dishes do carry a supplement) although my choice was supplement free.

I started with the delicious tiger prawn cocktail.

Jackie plumped for the homemade black pudding topped with a potato and cabbage cake and a poached egg, served with Madeira gravy.  That was almost a meal in itself.

My main course was local turbot fillet in a grain mustard sauce served with new potatoes, mushrooms and curly kale.

Jackie’s main course was whole baked sea bass accompanied by new potatoes, green beans and a herb butter sauce.

We were both unable to resist the temptations of the desserts and succumbed to the raspberry and passion fruit pavlova with pink praline.  It was the best pavlova I’ve ever tasted.

I thought that the meal was really scrumptious and for the quality of the food and service and the location £25 for three courses was  excellent value for money.
