Restaurant Review: Limehouse Restaurant York

We had dinner at Limehouse Restaurant York in February 2010. The restaurant is in Goodramgate a couple of minutes walk from York Minster. There are two seating areas, one at the front where we sat and another at the rear.

We selected from the Set Price Evening Menu which costs £15 for two courses and £18.50 for three courses. There a choice of three starters, three mains and three desserts.

We both had Avocado & Brie Cheesecake served with Fruit Chutney. That’s the first time I’ve had a savoury cheesecake and it was lovely and pretty filling for a starter.

I had Fillet of Pork on Sweet Potato Mash with Sage & Onion Jus for my main course. The pork was tender and the gravy very tasty. My husband had Fillet of Smoked Haddock on Gnocchi Dumplings in a Mature Cheddar Cheese & Leek Sauce. He found the haddock to be too salty meaning that he couldn’t discern the flavours of the sauce.

I’d say that Limehouse Restaurant offers good quality food at value for money prices with generous servings in a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere making it worthy of inclusion in a travel Europe guide.

Have you eaten at Limehouse Restaurant York, who would you rate it?
