We certainly recommend Plitvice lakes.

We also took a day trip to Kumrovec - the birthplace of Tito. That was an interesting experience for anyone who wants to get off the beaten path a little. The town has been recreated into a 19th century village of about 40 houses and barns, and we had the place almost all to ourselves when we were there.

We also drove across the border into southeast Slovenia for a night at a spa.
