Vienna Boys’ Choir impresses
Written by Amanda Kendle
Vienna is a fantastic European city, easily one of my favourites and when advertising for a documentary on the famous Vienna Boys’ Choir flashed across my TV screen this week, it reminded me of one of the most interesting experiences I’ve had there.

Although I’m not usually a big church-goer, one Sunday morning in Vienna I was pretty easily persuaded to get up early to attend the regular Sunday mass at the Hofburg where the Vienna Boys’ Choir sings. Of course, you have to buy tickets, but you can get the “cheap seats” at the top rear of the chapel and not pay too much – you won’t see too much either, unless you stand up and move to the front of the area like everybody did (including me).
The boys looked so young but were so professional – I was definitely impressed. As a bonus, I was able to take a look at the Austrian Crown Jewels in the nearby Imperial Treasury (Schatzkammer), a glittery way to finish off the morning. If you’re looking for choir tickets, check out the dates on their website which have links to ticket sales. Hearing a live performance of the Vienna Boys’ Choir is my one of my top tips for Vienna attractions.
