The Church Cafe and Bar, Dublin

Written by Karen Bryan

The Church Cafe and Bar in central Dublin is located close to the Jervis Shopping Centre, a few minutes walk from O’Connell Street. It’s a converted church, originally built at the start of the 18th century, retaining the wonderful stained glass window. I had a complimentary lunch in the Terrace on the ground floor.

There’s an outdoor seating area with a BBQ but it was raining during my visit. I decided to go for traditional Irish fayre and ordered Irish Stew. The tasty stew was served with the most delicious soda bread I’ve ever tasted.

The Church has a really relaxed, airy atmosphere. After 5pm you can eat at the more formal Gallery Restaurant. The restored Renatus Harris organ is in the gallery. In the late evening there’s a nightclub in the cellar.
