What’s in Your luggage?
Written by Andy Hayes
I had a good chuckle the other day when a press release came across my desk. It was the results of a survey by the Post Office Travel Money Card (which isn’t a bad idea, actually, if you want an easy way to get foreign currency abroad) and the title of the survey reuslts: Package Holidays Out, Packed Lunch Holidays In

Here are some of the bizarre and intriguing results they found:
- 72% of people in the UK pack food in their luggage to make their holiday cash go further
- 85% of housewives take their own food on a family holiday
- 52% of Scots take cereal on holiday
- 47% of people in Northern Ireland would take crisps on their holiday
Some of the most frequent items people are taking on holiday includes tea bags, crisps, cornflakes, and…wait for it…Marmite!
Another way to save on your trip is to take food from the hotel buffet. 47% of people from Northwest England take food from the buffet; the lowest percentage is Southwest England at 27% – still a good percentage!
So…Euravelers, tell us: Do you bring your own food on holiday? If so, what do you bring? Do you pinch from the hotel buffet?
