Headland trumps Beach Hut for a lovely cuppa with beach views in Newquay
Written by Karen Bryan
Based on my experience during the Newquay leg of the Summer 09 UK Blogging Tour, if you’re looking for a nice cup of tea with a great view in Newquay, make a beeline for the traditional Headland Hotel at Fistral Beach. At the Headland you’ll be served a pot of tea accompanied by a pot of hot water and a shortbread biscuit for £2.15.
Contrast this with the previous days’ offering at the Beach Hut at Watergate Bay of a two-thirds full mug of hot water served with floating teabag for £1.75.
Now, both venues have great beach views, but it’s not only the tea that comes out tops at the Headlands. The Ladies toilets at the Headlands were immaculate, the same can’t be said for the facilites at the Beach Hut, where there was no toilet roll and a broken hand drier.
So, ditch the trendy cafe and visit the Headland if you’re looking for a lovely cuppa with beach views and great toilet facilities.
What’s your favourite haunt for a great cup of tea with views in Newquay?
