Retro style at Pop Boutique & Mod Pop Cafe, Northern Quarter, Manchester

Written by Karen Bryan

You can satisfy your retro cravings on several fronts with a visit to the Pop Boutique and the Mod Pop Cafe on Oldham Street in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. The complementary businesses are housed in the same building.

I had a look around the Boutique and a coffee at the Cafe on the Manchester stop of the Summer 09 UK Blogging Tour.

The Pop Boutique is brimming with colourful vintage clothing and accessories. At the back of the shop is Barbarella where you can have your hair cut and styled to match the period of your clothing.

Downstairs at the Mod Pop Cafe you’ll think you’ve been whisked back to the psychedelic 60s as you enjoy the tasty fare of this vegetarian and vegan cafe against the backdrop of patterned wallpaper.

In the video Mark below tells us about the cafe, some of its specialities and recommends a visit to Affleck’s Palace, just along the road, for an amazing selection of independent shop and stalls.

Have you been to the Pop Boutique and/or Mod Pop Cafe, what did you like best?
