Waterfalls are quite mesmerising and do seem to have a different character each time you visit, depending on weather, amount of water etc.. I've been to Krimml Falls in Austria and it is a superb triple waterfalls that suits the alpine setting.

There are many waterfalls which are gorgeous both in their full-flow and the "dry" season. Makes me want to visit many places twice!

Rachel - the time of year and amount of rainfall make a tremendous difference to waterfalls. I haven't been to Iceland but I'm sure that the waterfalls there must be spectacular.

Paul - I know what you mean about prefering less well known waterfalls, it's more enjoyable if you are not elbow to elbow with other visitors. Thanks for the link to the Derbyshire waterfalls.

All great waterfalls but I prefer the ones on a human scale , that you can have to yourself because they're off the beaten track and local ... being not far from where I live in Derbyshire these are ideal for cooling off should we get another heat wave ... http://www.skylarkholidays.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=152&catid=55
