Video of The Greeting to the Sun, Zadar, Croatia

Written by Karen Bryan

I loved The Greeting to the Sun installation on the promenade in the Croatian city of Zadar. The Greeting to the Sun contains three hundred multi layered glass solar panels arranged in a 22 metre circle  providing a multi coloured lights show after dark.

The lights show is extremely popular with local children who race around trying to follow the light patterns. I would have liked to join in too but I doubt if I could have kept up with them and I probably would have ended up slipping and making a total fool of myself.

The Greeting to the Sun is next to the Sea Organ where the sounds are produced by the waves. Both installations are the work of Nikola Bašić and complement each other well.

  1. Hi Karen .. that’s lovely ..the kids dashing around .. like you – I’d like to play with the kids, but absolutely almost certainly would fall in a splashy heap!!
