England heeds Europe a la Carte’s admonishment and gets some decent Border flags
Written by Karen BryanAt last England hsd taken on board Europe a la Carte’s recent advice to get some decent flags erected at the A1 Border crossing layby.

The new flags with the visible St George’s Cross
The previous flags were best described as tatty tea towels hanging by a thread, so I’m glad to see that there are now three decent flags to welcome travellers to England.

The previous tatty flags
It was a sorry state of affairs when a mobile cafe in the Border layby was sporting a better flag than the official flag poles.

The mobile cafe flag outshines the official flags
It’s reassuring to know that the English tourism authorities are reading Europe a la Carte and acting on good advice. Tourism is a big earner for the UK and many visitors like to stop and take photos at the Border crossing, so tatty flags don’t exactly promote a good image in their holiday photos.
