Slovenia offers much more than just Bled. There are many beautiful caves (Postojna cave, Skocjan caves), cities (Ljubljana, Ptuj), seaside towns (Portoroz) and even famous villages (Bogojina).

We spent about two weeks in Slovenia a few years ago and fell in love with the country. I admit we kind of zipped through Bled to get to Lake Bohinj further up the road. There's no fairy tale castle in Bohinj like there is in Bled, but it's a bit less touristed - and it served as a perfect jumping off point for hiking in Triglav National Park. Bled did look lovely, though - and certainly worth of a visit. Overall, that corner of Slovenia is just gorgeous.

For some reason, Slovenia never made it onto my itinerary - it should have considering the importance in history. And since I moved to Canada I neglected Europe entirely - my yearly visit back home is too short to branch out too far from my family. But you got me thinking... Thank you!
