Martina - this post was written by Jason, an American living in Croatia. I was in Croatia twice last year, once in Istria and then the Zadar region. I loved Krka falls but didn't visit Plitvice.

I love Plitvicka jezera! Being Croatian myself, I decided to take my fiance (he's from South Africa) there for the New Year's two years ago. The scenery was absolutely magical: it was snowing, parts of the lakes where frozen, everything was quiet (not too many tourists around like in summer) and all you could hear was the sound of the waterfalls and the water stream under your feet when walking on the wooden platforms. My fiance fell in love with it so much he wouldn't mind living in the area one day! Accommodation in the surrounding villages is very nice and if you have a host that cooks for you even better...the food is delicious!
Thanks for writing about beautiful Croatia, Karen!
