Darren, I think that you are only covered by credit card when the purchase value is more than £100. I've also read recently that you have the same protection if you pay by Visa debit as you have paying by credit card.

I really do not know how they do it in this financial climate. If you book with a Visa Electron card are your purchases protected like booking with a normal credit card?

If not, then I would be tempted to pay the £4 credit card payment and then you are protected more. Those booking direct with an airline and their own hotel are best to take out travel insurance that covers airline failure.

Not that I am suggesting Ryanair will go under, but, it's best to be safe rather than sorry.
