Lappland in the winter? I shudder at the thought - it's strictly for foreign tourists who flock to the Ice Hotel. Winters in Lappland are cold, dark, and generally miserable. And did I mention dark? Summers, on the other hand, are lovely. This summer is unusually lovely too, because the mosquitoes are not as fierce as in the past years. It never gets dark, you can see places that are covered with snow for 8 months in a year, you get to experience the nature and see something other than mind-numbingly boring snow. And Abisko in the summer is simply divine. I can't wait to be there. Only two more weeks!

Anna, I think that Lappland is still perceived as a Winter destination by many travellers but I think it would make a great location for a family Summer holiday.
