I’m not a grey travel blogger, Happy Hotelier

Written by Karen Bryan

The Happy Hotelier posted a picture on his blog calling us the “two grayest” travel bloggers. After I took exception to being called a grey travel blogger (too many connotations of being dreary, dull and uninteresting) he changed this to “two of the youngest at heart” travel bloggers.

Happy Hotelier you’ve got to come up with something which better expresses our scintillating offerings as travel bloggers rather than our appearance or age. Any suggestions readers, only flattering, please?

  1. Very nice picture about 2 Happy Bloggers ;-)

  2. Well, Claude I’m delighted to be called a Happy Blogger but I think that Guido has already made that adjective his trademark.

  3. At the instigation of Elliott NG I have again changed it into two of the Youngest at Heart and Most Experienced Travel Bloggers

  4. Well, Happy Hotelier, glad to hear that you are taking suggestions on board. Although I did rather like Elliot’s suggestions of “bloggers who have been places” and “independently minded”.

  5. Karen,

“Bloggers who have been places” sounds to me a bit worn out as if they are obsolete.

Okay, “Independently Minded” a much better fit….

  6. Happy Hotelier, perhaps bloggers who are going places sounds better? However independently minded sounds good to me

  7. Nice to see Two Great Bloggers!!!

  8. Blogging can be a solitary pastime, Julie, so it’s great to meet other travel bloggers in person in additions to virtual contact.

  9. [...] opening, among which: Hotel Chatter, Howard Greenstein and two of the grayest, err sorry Karen – I’m not a Grey Travel Blogger, Happy Hotelier! (lol) , Independently Minded Travel Bloggers : Karen Bryan (R) of Europe A La Carte and Wandalust [...]

  10. Grey makes it sound like you’re in your 70s!! So you have grey hair, but you’re not old! and even if you were, I’d say “seasoned travelers” would be slightly less offensive…

  11. Aleandra – I don’t understand how one’s age/ appearance/hair colour is relevant. Readers of the Europe a la Carte blog are here because of interesting, useful content.

When I did Q&A session for easyJet inflight mag about the forthcoming challenge I was asked my age. It’s not that I’m sensitive about it, I’m 51 (and have had grey hair for about 20 years) it’s just totally irrelevant.
