Earn kudos by writing for and promoting posts on thebloggersguide.com
Welcome to my blog, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
The Bloggers Guide is billing itself as offering “the lowdown from the worlds best bloggers”. It aims to give travellers relevant, current tips and advice on what to do and see in various cities around a world, a harnessing of the collective knowledge of bloggers versus the rather stale, prescriptive, biased opinion of a traditional travel guide writer.
You can either submit original content or promote posts, including your own. You earn 100 kudos equivalent to $10 for writing an original post, 10 kudos or $1 for submission of a post, both of these payments are subject to approval. You can earn 10 kudos for a link back and1 kudos for leaving a comment and for referrals. However the payment threshold is 2500 kudso ($250) to avoid any flash in the pan contributors. I think that the threshold level is set too high. I imagine that a lot of writers and/or participants will lose interest before they reach the threshold.
Readers can vote posts up and down and the most popular posts will be published in guidebooks covering the major cities. The guidebooks will be published to view free of charge online but not available as a download pdf or similar to print out. Hard copies of the guides will be available for purchase.
I think that the project could provide travellers with useful content for specific cities but a lot depends on the quality of the submissions and enough readers visiting the site and voting for quality, interesting, quirky posts. I’ll be promoting relevant Europe a la Carte posts and Wandalust and posts from other blogs which I like. I may also write some original content but I’m not holding my breath to make the 2500 kudos threshold.
