That's ridiculous that the petrol pump takes money when it's empty, the pump should just shut down when it's empty. The moral seems to be to buy refuel you hire car before you get to Pisa airport, hopefully not too far away from the airport, so that the fuel gauge still shows full. I put €20,-. So did a lot of other people who had to return the car. There was no fuel left. The pump was empty. At Hertz they told me that it’s the same on every Sunday and Monday. I checked on my Nationwide card now and it doesn't mention the Cirrus network.
