Restaurant Review – Ship Inn, Eyemouth, Scottish Borders

Written by Karen Bryan

We had lunch at the Ship Inn in Eyemouth, in the Scottish Borders today.  The Ship Inn is on the waterfront at Eyemouth harbour, tel 01890 750224.  The restaurant area of the bar is pleasantly decorated and there were vases of fresh flowers on the window sills.  There are plain pine tables and harbour views from some tables.  It’s a relaxed atmosphere with a good mix of customers. families, couples and groups of friends.  Most of the main courses cost £7 – £8.

It’s the second time that we’ve eaten there. We originally order steak pie as that’s what I had on my last visit and it was really good.   The steak was tender with tasty gravy flavoured with Belhaven beer.  However today they’d run out of steak pie, so I plumped for chicken breast goujons.  The tender home prepared chicken strips were served with crispy chips, a mixed green salad, coleslaw and a tomato dip.  It was a good sized plateful.

I’d recommend the Ship Inn as for a meal if you’re in the Eyemouth area.  You can combine it with a walk on the coastal path for some great view over towards Coldingham and St Abbs.
