Calling all UK travel bloggers
Welcome to my blog, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
I’m planning a Europe a la Carte UK Tour where I’ll travel around the UK meeting travel bloggers and members of the public to get the low down on the “Best of Britain off the beaten track”. I think we’re all looking for more authentic travel, not just visiting the tourist traps. I know that I’ve discovered so much about my home country of Scotland when I’ve travelled around researching Scottish destination guides for Europe a la Carte.
I was inspired by the post from the Happy Hotelier about the Guardian’s budget travel columnist Benji Lanyado’s “Travel Bloggers Hopping” initiative on my first Europe Travel Blog Carnival. I had a virtual conversation with Heather of Heatheronhertravels, (another contributor to the Europe Travel Blog Carnival) about this initiative where she mentioned that Benji should undertake a tour of the UK to meet all the travel bloggers. I thought I could do that.
So here I am proposing the “Europe a la Carte Best of Britain off the beaten track” UK tour. So if you would like to meet me and give me the tour and low down on the best hidden gems in your area please email me karen(at)europealacarte.co.uk

I’d be happy to host you in Bristol any time, Karen, and show you a few of the fab places in Bristol, both secret and well-known.
I’ll be interested to find out about other travelling bloggers from around the UK - I recently became aware of this UK food blogger’s forum -

Perhaps we could start one that covers travel and living in UK themes - the possibilities are endless!

Thanks for your invitation Heather. I did spend a few days in Bristol years ago with one of our sons and really liked it. I agree the themes are endless but off the beaten track is more than enough for me at present.

hi karen and heather
It is indeed a great idea. Do keep me up to date… always good to see UK bloggers going at it. alas the blogging community here is not communicative enough…anything that makes bloggers aware of each other is brilliant.
best of British…

Thanks, Benji. Well I haven’t exactly been inundated with bloggers offering to guide me off the beaten track in their locale yet! Would you like to volunteer?
Seriously I think there is an awful lot to do and see in the UK once you have some insider knowledge and take some time to wander around an area. Plus think of all the links if lot of bloggers get involved in the proposed tour.
I also meed to find some sponsors for tour e.g.. hotel chain, car hire company.

I noticed that Alistair Sawday of Special places has started a blog - he is based in Bristol too. Would be an interesting guy to talk to and maybe he would have some thoughts on a link up or sponsorship.
