Pet pester power influences travel plans

Written by Karen Bryan

It’s reckoned that the UK domestic travel industry could reap the rewards if it can cater to pet pester power and encourage bookings from owners who’d rather take their beloved pets away with the family.

There are 49 million pets in the UK, almost matching the human population. Pet travel in the UK is expected to grow at 6% per annum for the next 5 years, with dogs constituting 80% of pet travellers. Not many owners want to get involved in arranging “Pet Passports” to enable their pets to travel abroad with them.

I know that many UK Travelodges allow pets at the discretion of the establishment manager. There is an additional charge of £10 per pet night, with a maximum of 2 pets per room.

Are you a owner who prefers to take their pets on holiday with them? Do you find you have a good choice of accommodation.? Perhaps you only consider UK holidays so that your pet can always accompany you.
