Intercontinental hotels can’t find their own cheapest rate

Welcome to my blog, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

The Intercontinental Hotel group guarantees that its online booking rates are the lowest publicity available rates so you won’t have to shop around to get the best deal. However when looking for accommodation in the York area for a UK short break between Xmas and New Year I discovered an discrepancy. When I carried out a search on the “Best Available” rate the York Clifton Holiday Inn Express the price came up at £69 for the night of 29 December 2007. When I click on to the “Leisure Saver” rate option the price was £39. That’s a whopping difference of £30, almost half price!

It’s incredible that the “Best Available” option is not picking up a special offer on their own site. Under the “Lowest Rate Guarantee” Intercontinental will match the lower price if it’s for the same type of accommodation for the same date, if you notify them within 24 hours of booking. They will also give you an additional 10% discount so looks like you could get the room for £35.10.
