Make yourself at home anywhere in the world, live like a local and stay for free

One way to enjoy free accommodation during your travels is arrange a home exchange. The Home Exchange Website allow members to list their own property and to search for accommodation in a location that you’d they’d to visit. It costs $100, around £50, for annual membership. If for any reason, you don’t arrange a swap withing your fist year, membership is free for your second year. Home Exchange have more than 17,000 listings all over the world, so there’s a pretty good chance that you will find suitable accommodation.

I searched on the site for accommodation in Italy and there were pages of properties coming up in all parts of Italy. I think it could take some coordination to arrange a simultaneous swap but if your dates are flexible and transport to your destination is easy to arrange e.g. if you are driving or arrange the swap will in advance so you can book cheap flight, it’s a great way to have a low cost holiday with home comforts.
