Hotelshopuk specialise in last minute short breaks in the UK. I liked the layout and design of their site, nothing too bright or gaudy. I was impressed that a standard phone number was clearly displayed at the top of the site, as many hotel booking sites use non geographical codes which means you have to pay a higher rate for your call. On other sites it can be difficult to locate a contact phone number.
Navigation around the site was easy, although there are several search options available, it’s neatly laid out and uncluttered. The most obvious option is a search box on the right hand side of the page where can you enter the maximum price that you wish to pay, your dates and destination. You can also search for accommodation in a specific region of the UK. There is a mini guide for each of the fifteen regions in the UK. Another search is by attraction such as theme parks or castles. If you are looking for a particular type of hotel perhaps at the seaside or a country treat you can search using these criteria. If are looking for a good deal, there is the pick of the week and special offers.
I think it is quite a feat to encompass all these various search options on one “easy on the eye” page. I hate it when I go to websites which are cluttered and I’m unsure of how to best find my way around the site. If you go the site knowing exactly where you want to stay or looking for ideas or inspiration the homepage will serve your requirements.
When I’m looking for a hotel for a short break I want to find one that is value for money and in an attractive location. I did a quick search on Hotelshopuk for hotels in Perthshire as I am going there this weekend. I’ve already booked accommodation which I can’t cancel now but I wanted to compare prices. The search came up with dinner, bed and breakfast at the Quality Hotel in Perth for £90 for the Saturday night, which is a pretty good price for a 3 star hotel in the city centre.
Overall it’s well worth visiting Hotelshopuk.com as it’s a very user friendly site and has some good deals on offer.
