Find the cheapest UK airport parking
Written by Karen Bryan
I get pretty annoyed at how much I’ve to pay to park the car at the airport. However in many cases there’s not a viable alternative.
This was highlighted again recently by the hassle experienced by a traveller getting to Newcastle airport from Berwick upon Tweed one Sunday evening a couple of weeks ago. There are no trains running on the line for a few weekends due to engineering works, so instead of a 45 minute train journey, it was 2 hours on the replacement coach service departing Berwick at 9pm. This should have left enough time to catch the last metro from Central to the Airport which, according to the timetable departs at 23:29. However the metro stopped at Regent Centre, several stops away from the airport with no alternative but to pay for a taxi to the airport! So much for relying in public transport.

So if you’re going to have to cough up for airport parking, at least you can find the cheapest possible price by using a price comparison site such as Airport Parking Shop. I used the site to search for parking at Newcastle airport for a week in November for our pickage holiday and the cheapest quote was £30 for the eight days. The search saved me a couple of pounds which is no great deal but it only took a minute to carry out the search.

Because we work in the industry, we naturally assume everyone is aware that off airport car parks are considerably cheaper than parking on airport. The savings are substantial, much more than a couple pounds. Also if travelling to these airports for the first time they can be quite intimidating with different terminals and parking areas. Far simpler to drive to an off airport car park and have them transfer you direct to the correct terminal.
David – yes it is much cheaper to use an off airport car park. However they can be hard to find too.
