The European Heritage Days initiative offers you the opportunity to visit, free of charge, a vareity of interesting properties, some of which are not generally open to the public and others which usually charge an admission fee.
In England the events take place this weekend, 6 - 9 September and with the weather forecast to be good you can have a great day out. Etal Castle in North Northumberland is one of the properties offering free admission on 8 September from 11.00 to 16.00.

In Scotland the events are staggered over September weekends. The RNLI Lifeboat Station in Eyemouth in the Scottish Borders will be open for visits on 15 September.
