UK family holidays - poor value for money & bad service

A survey of 2000 UK parents about attitudes toward family holidays in hotels the UK concludes that it’s better value for money to go on a package holiday abroad with guaranteed sunshine, good swimming pool facilities and more family orientated service than to take a seaside holiday in the UK. The main gripes were small expensive hotel rooms, and an anti-child attitude.

Although parents were attracted to domestic holidays by shorter journey times and avoidance of airport hassle these did not outweigh the allure of sunnier, cheaper, child friendly foreign shores.

I think it’s pretty appalling that families are made to feel this way and it shows a lack of business sense that hotels are not capitalising on the potential of the family market. Have you experienced similar problems as a family on holiday in UK?
