Haute Kilture Exhibition
Welcome to my blog, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
This innovative exhibition of unusual kilts is running at the Prestongrange Industrial Museum in East Lothian until 19 August 2007, opening hours are 11am - 4pm daily. The textile artist, Malcolm Cruikshank, has created an amazing collection of kilts and accessories.
The Clubber’s Kilt is made of fabric inspired by club fliers.
The Ikea Kilt is a fitting homage to the consumer society in which we live. You can bet a lot more people have been Ikea than to art exhibitions.
The Lyric Kilt is made of fabric printed with the intermingled text of the Malcolms favourite song lyrics from bands such as REM and the Happy Mondays.
These are just a few of the kilts in display. Malcolm first made a paper kilt for a birthday party with the theme of paper and then moved onto using other materials and fabrics.
Try to visit the exhibition, as it’s really original and entertaining. There are plenty of other things to do in East Lothian to make for a great day out.
