Foam on the beach

There was an amazing amount of sea foam at our local beach in Spittal, Berwick upon Tweed in North Northumberland this morning. You can just make out the lighthouse at the end of Berwick pier at the back right of the photo below.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much foam on Spittal beach before. I assume it was caused by the large waves and the fact the the tide was going out and the foam was trapped behind the rocks.
