Longniddry Bents, East Lothian, Scotland

Welcome to my blog, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Longniddry Bents is a two mile long beach, east of Edinburgh, in the county of East Lothian. The beach currently holds a rural Seaside Award. There are 3 car parks along the beach. My photos are taken from the Gosford car park, the furthest east.

Many wild flowers grow right up to the shoreline. The views across the Firth of Forth to Edinburgh are rather dominated by the Cockenzie Power Station. The distinctive twin chimney stacks belch out enough pollution from the coal fired power station for it to one of the worst polluters in the UK!  Pollution aside, I find the building iconic. You can see Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh on the horizon. There are still a lot of concrete block anti-tank defences strewn along the shoreline. You can describe the beach as conventional picture postcard material. However I really like Longniddry Bents and go there often for walks or a coffee break.
