Murano Glass at the National Museum of Scotland

Welcome to my blog, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

My other theme for my visit to the museum earlier this week was the glass display. My favourite displays were of the Murano pieces. Murano is an island close to Venice, where glass has been made since the 9th century.

The photo below shows pieces from the mid to late 19th century, when Salvati led the revival of the Venetian glass industry. Salvati was born in Vicenza and worked as barrister in Venice.

The other photo is a collection of Murano glassware from the 1980s. You can also see my reflection in the display case as I took the photo.
