Brits biggest holiday spenders in Europe

The British spend more on holidays than any other European nations, with an average spend per holiday of 2795 euros/£1744. However British holiday expenditure has fallen by around 7% since last year. The British are also more likely to book their trip online with 51% booking on the internet compared with an average of 39% in the rest of Europe.

I wonder why the British spend more on holidays? Is it maybe because they are more willing to take on debt or they feel wealthy because of the continuing increase in house prices?
