Brits voted 2nd worst tourists, just ahead of the French.

An Expedia poll of 5000 European hoteliers has placed the British as the 2nd worst tourists for being noisy, untidy and poor tippers. There is some cause of celebration in that in the last poll 5 years ago the Brits were at the bottom, this time it’s the French who have that dubious honour. The Japanese were voted the best tourists for being tidy and polite.
How embarrassing! Come on you Brits, clean up your act, make an effort to be polite, less rowdy and leave a decent tip!

I think Reuters was referring to the same poll in its “Oddly Enough” section…
“Swiss tourists were commended for being quiet and considerate, unlike the Britons who were judged to be the fifth worst tourists because of rude behavior, noise and a miserly attitude to tipping.”
Britain is second for being the “worst” dressed tourist….!

Looks like I was wrong in calling the Brit’s the 2nd worst tourists when in fact they are the 5th worst! However not a great day for Britian in the allure stakes as the Lonely Planet guide find Brits to be “obsessed with celebrity with more people voting for TV shows than in political elections, hooked on internet porn and addicted to junk and ready made food.”
