I have a soft spot for Scarborough, on the east coast of Yorkshire. I’ve spend many enjoyable weekends there although it know it may not be everyones cup of tea.

The 3 star Crown Spa Hotel is located on the South Bay Beach esplanade. A double room based on a 2 night stay costs £91 per night for B&B, £131 for breakfast and dinner.

If you want something cheap and cheerful the Grand Hotel has double room on a breakfast and dinner basis for £48 for Friday 11 and £54 for Saturday 12. I stayed at this hotel a couple of years ago. It’s such a beautiful building from the exterior but is still undergoing refurbishment. Our room was pretty small, virtually up in the rafters. You are allocated a meal time on arrival and the food is pretty basic.

If you don’t want to stay in Scarborough, the Raven Hall Country House Hotel is 6 miles from the town. It has great views over Robin Hood Bay and offers free golf on its nine hole course and tennis on the all weather courts. A double or twin room costs £80 a night.
