It’s amazing how you can drive through a place and never realise what’s there. I’ve was in Prestonpans a couple of weeks ago taking photos of the Market Cross which dates from the early 17th century.

Previously I’d noticed a car park with a sign “Prestonpans Murals” in the main street and one mural at the side of a convenience store, yesterday I decided to stop and investigate further. I walked down to the beach and there were several murals on the wall there. My favourite was the one of the the miners.

I also really liked the cow at the side of the covenience store, which was formerly a dairy.

The murals honour the memory of the history of the town and its rich industrial heritage. There is a mural trail around the town.  You can also visit the Prestoungrange Industrial Museum.
