Elcho Castle, Perthshire

Welcome to my blog, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Elcho Castle is a well preserved 16th century castle by the River Tay, a few miles south east of Perth.  It belonged to the Wemyss family until they gifted it to the nation in 1929.  I have to admit that I’d not heard of Elcho Castle before.  I was swithering whether to stop and visit the castle on the way to Angus last weekend.  I’m glad that I did go. It’s in a lovely setting close to the river.  It’s another place to visit when you are in Perthshire.
