Watch out for bank charges if using your cards abroad

Welcome to my blog, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I read today that NatWest is increasing the charges made for debit card payments made overseas. From I June 2007 when you pay for goods or services abroad with a NatWest Debit card you’ll be charged transaction fees of 2.75% of the value of the purchase and a fixed charge of £1.25.

I have a Nationwide current account which makes no charges for using abroad and a Nationwide Gold VISA credit card which I use when abroad as it offers commission free purchases abroad. You know that we Scots have reputation to maintain of being careful with our money!
