Guide to Newcastle in pipeline
Written by Karen Bryan
I visited Newcastle upon Tyne on Friday last week, which you must have realised if you read my blog regularly. I plan to write a destination guide to the city soon, when I finish the guide to Angus in Scotland. I think that if I write a few blog entries when I visit a place that will make it less daunting for me when I start to write a destination guide, as I will have already done some of the preparatory work.

I like walking along the quayside in Newcastle because of all the great views. It’s lovely in the evening too. What do you like doing in Newcastle?

I quite like going to the Northumberland Stree/Grey Street area – beautiful buildings, and some nice wee shops.
Also there is a really good cafe called Belle and Herbs on Heaton Road, they always serve an absolute plateful, and their sandwiches are amazing just to look at and to figure out how to eat them!
Yes, Kyle, there are some beautiful buildings around the city centre. Must try that cafe some time I’m in Newcastle.
hey,
thanks for that kyle! and hope to see you sometime karen…

Yes I will come to the cafe when I’m next in Newcastle, so I can write about it in my guide. Look forward to meeting you.
I used to work opposite the Grainger St market, and a trip there will leave a visitor in no doubt they are in a unique part of England (esp. the accents and the stalls selling cheap tabs)
Andy – thannks for your tip about visiting Grainger St market. I haven’t been in Newcastle for a while now. My husband used to work there so we’d meet up there sometimes.
