Scots behaving badly abroad

As a Scot, I was embarassed to read about the drunken, loutish behaviour of Scots, mainly on stag party weekends, in Poland.  Their favourite party trick is lifting their kilts which is not amusing local residents.  Bar owners are complaining about the havoc wrecked in their premises by the inebriated Scots.  Polish authorities are threatening a clamp down with possible jail sentences for offenders.

This sort of story makes me cringe, tarnishing the reputation of all Scots.  I have seen plenty of incidents of badly behaved holiday makers, generally in countries where alcohol is cheaper in the destination than in the home country.  It’s not only been Scots but other British, Germans and Scandanavians who have been worse for wear. There is a difference between having a good time and sociable drink to spending your whole trip boozing and annoying everyone around you.

Have you witnessed any behaviour by compatriots on holiday that has left you wishing the ground would swallow you up?
