Anybody who knows me or reads my blog is probably sick fed up of hearing me going on about Lake Iseo in northern Italy. I was thinking how lovely it would be to go to the lake for a week in May, so I decided to do a bit of research, prices correct 16/3/07.

Flight with Ryanair Newcastle/Bergamo Sat 5 – Sat 12 May £42

There is a slight fly in the ointment in that the flight arrives at Bergamo at midnight so you couldn’t pick up a hire car or get public transport that night. You’d have to stay in Bergamo the fist night, which is no hardship as it’s a beautiful city.
Taxi to hotel £10

I’d recommend that you return to airport next day to pick up hire car, so you can drop it off at airport on your return.
Car hire with Auto Europe eg Fiat Panda with refundable excess £140
If you don’t want to drive you can reach Lake Iseo by bus.
