John Lennon’s love of Durness

Written by Karen Bryan

Evidently John Lennon was a great fan of Durness in Sutherland in the Highlands of Scotland. He spend childhood holidays there and then returned with his wife Yoko Ono and their children in 1969. These celebrity visits are being used to promote the area to tourists.

Would you be more likely to visit an area because of celebrity connections? I don’t think that it would directly infuence me much. However I suppose that this sort of thing can trigger more publicity in an area and if you see photos or film footage of an area then it could attract you to visit.

On Friday drive to Oban to stay overnight and back home on the Saturday. [...]
